Peridot is one of only two gemstones (the other being diamond) that are formed in molten rock, rather than in the Earth's crust, making it a unique and rare find.
It is always a distinct, vibrant olive green color, setting it apart from almost all other gemstones which can come in a variety of colors. Peridot is the birthstone for August and is known as the stone of compassion.
